The Netherlands has a rich organ culture dating back to the fifteenth century. Six centuries later, a thriving music tradition continues where organs are developed, sold, and passionately played. This culture—and artisanal organ building—form the foundation of Content Organs, a Dutch builder of digital and Hauptwerk instruments. The family company celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2020 as a leading digital organ builder.

An intriguing history
The workshop was founded in 1980 by Bert Foppen with a focus on product development and qualified techniques, earning the Diapason d’Or by the end of the century. Growth led to a production facility in Ermelo’s Kerkdennen industrial park.

Various developments
Transitioning from analog to digital in the late eighties expanded possibilities and organ varieties. The 2006 Mondri Classic Series introduced a self‑designed microchip with high‑quality samples, boosting the global presence.

A new organ factory
Growing global sales prompted a larger factory, showrooms, and a concert hall in Ermelo’s Veldzicht area. The modern building opened in 2009, positioning the company for the future.

Invention Technology
Launched in 2012, this in‑house technology stores four independent sample libraries and multiple listening positions in a virtual space—unlocking near‑endless possibilities.

Virtual Pipe Organ
With Hauptwerk, playing renowned pipe organs became possible from home. Since 2015 the Cambiare series delivers robust VPOs and high‑quality audio; the Experience Center opened in 2018 for live comparisons.
